Vat on Pub Sales

I have a new client - public house and just doing the vat return. I get a z reading from the till every day wich i have entered in to the 4000 nominal as a gross amount? is that correct? Will the z reading have Vat on the total amount. They dont serve any food , just the usual crisps and nuts. ? Thanks

The Z reading will include VAT. Do check that the cash takings match the Z reading, though.

The Z reading will include VAT. But do check that the takings match the Z reading!

The simple cross check is to multiply the gross takings by 1/6 (the VAT fraction). Hope this works!
